What will I do when I graduate? Backpack to Briefcase prepares teenagers and young adults to confidently enter the world of work.
The book content is broken into 3 phases: Discover, Build and Launch. The journey begins with an introduction to the ikigai framework. Ikigai is a Japanese word that roughly means “your reason for being”. Part of understanding your ikigai is understanding what you are good at and this is where understanding one’s strengths can inform people of the way they naturally think, act and feel.
Written by Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach Stephanie Koonar from her experience of teaching over 4,000 students. Backpack to Briefcase includes tips and tricks to help students successfully begin their meaningful career journey.
Backpack to Briefcase can provide those coaching young adults (ages 14-24), parents, and educators a framework, along with activities and a downloadable pdf to support students to learn about themselves, understand how they wish to use their talents in the world and be financially independent.
The book includes access to a fillable pdf workbook.
Testimonial
“Brilliant book. It’s a deceptively simple read that is at once unintimidating AND dense, full of wisdom and easy, action-oriented advice. As a mid-career professional I read with my nephew and niece in mind (one is just 1 year beyond their university education, 1 is just entering their 3rd year), and I can now see how they could both use it — so they each got a copy! But even better, I found it valuable for myself to remind me where I need to work at certain aspects of career moves, searches and interviews — and the prep for them. Great, clear, easy-to-digest book that really is good advice for EVERYONE in their career, and provides the practical tools to prep oneself for ‘getting it right’. SO many people could use this book…!”
